Filter Your International Orders
Create a filter to easily find orders shipping to an international destination
In This Article
Since packages being shipped to international destinations require a bit more handling and specific information to be entered when creating a shipping label, you may wish to separate your international orders from orders being shipped domestically.
The good news is that you can create a filter for your international orders. Then, select the filter any time you wish to view only orders going to an international destination.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
We've started shipping orders to international destinations. Our international orders are showing up in the Orders Grid along with orders being shipped domestically.
We would like to be able to quickly locate our international orders and have only those orders load into the Orders Grid so that we can handle them separately from our domestic orders.
We can help you with that! Let's walk through creating an international filter that can be selected to view only your international orders in the Orders Grid.
Create an International Filter
When creating a filter to locate your international orders you will:
- Use an Advanced Search to find orders being shipped to countries other than the United States.
- Add criteria to the Advanced Search for orders in the Ready to Ship status
- Save your Advanced Search as a Filter. The filter will be added to the Orders Menu.
- (Optional) Separate Domestic from International orders
1 - Search for International Orders
- Select All Orders in the Orders Menu.
Selecting All Orders ensures that no criteria have already been added to your search.
- Click the Advanced Search button in the Search Bar.
The Advanced Search pop-up will open.
Next, you will specify that you only wish to view orders that are not being shipped within the United States. Here's how:
- Click the Field drop-down menu and select Order Ship To Country.

- Change the Operator so that it is Not Equals.

- Enter US into the Value field.

- Click the Add button so that the criterion you entered is added to the Advanced Search.

The added criterion will show in the search pop-up.
2 - Search for Ready to Ship Orders
So far, the Advanced Search you have created lists all international orders regardless of the order's status (Ready to Ship, Shipped, Voided, and so on).
As an option, when you would like to view only your ready to ship international orders, add another criterion that specifies orders in the Ready to Ship status. Here's how:
- Set the Field to Order Status.
- Set the Operator to Equals.
- Enter Ready to Ship into the Value field.
- Click Add.
Your search should now look like this:

The Advanced Search now identifies orders with a Ship To country other than the United States and that have a status of Ready to Ship.
Once an international order is shipped and the order's status is updated to ‘Shipped’, the order is no longer included in the search results.
3 - Save the Advanced Search as a Filter
So that you don't have to recreate this Advanced Search every time you wish to view international orders, let’s save the search as a new Filter:
- Click Save As.

- Click the magnifying glass icon and select an icon for this Filter.
The icon will be displayed next to the Filter in the Orders Menu to help make it easier to identify.
- Enter a name for your filter into the Name field.

- Click Save to add the filter to the Orders Menu.
From now on, you can select the filter you just created to quickly view your ready to ship, international orders in the Orders Grid.

4 - Separate Domestic & International Orders
Now that you’ve completed the earlier steps in this article, you have two filters: the default Ready to Ship filter and your newly created International Orders filter.
- The new International Orders filter includes shipments going to destinations outside the United States.
- Ready to Ship, by default, includes both domestic and international orders that are ready to ship.
If you’d like to separate domestic from international orders, you can make a small adjustment to the Ready to Ship filter so it only includes orders shipping within the United States.
Here's how:
- Select the Ready to Ship filter. Then, click the Advanced Search button.

- Click Edit.

- Enter the following search criteria. Then, click the Add button.
- Field: Order Ship To Country
- Operator: Equals
-
Value: US

- Click Save.
Now, the Ready to Ship filter lists orders with a status of Ready to Ship and that are being shipped to a destination in the United States.
