BigCommerce: Manage & Ship Multiple Address Orders
Manage and ship your BigCommerce multiple address orders
In This Article
Postsale supports importing orders with multiple shipping addresses from BigCommerce. In BigCommerce, multiple address orders allow your customers to ship items from a single purchase to different delivery addresses. At checkout, your customer can specify which items go to which address.
In this article, we will show you:
- How to identify BigCommerce multiple address orders in Postsale
- How statuses are handled as labels are created for multiple address orders
- How to create a filter so that you can easily locate your multiple address orders
- How BigCommerce orders that are changed from single to multiple address (and vise versa) are handled in Postsale
Before We Begin
This article assumes that:
- You have added your BigCommerce store to Postsale
- You have configured your BigCommerce store to allow your customers to specify multiple ship to addresses during checkout.
Manage and Ship Multiple Address Orders
Identify Multiple Address Orders in Postsale
When multiple address orders are imported into Postsale from BigCommerce, the order is split into multiple orders, one order for each specified ship to address, so that individual shipping labels can be created for each address.
The split orders in Postsale are easily identified, just look for BigCommerce orders that have a -1, -2, -3, etc. appended to the BigCommerce order number.
Let's look at an example:
During checkout for order 111 in BigCommerce, the customer specified that the two items on the order should be shipped to separate addresses.

When the order is imported into Postsale, two individual orders are created (orders 111-1 and 111-2), one order for each specified shipping destination in BigCommerce.

So, multiple address orders can be easily identified because they have the original BigCommerce order number appended with a -1, -2, and so on.
Ship Multiple Address Orders & Order Statuses
Creating labels for multiple address orders is done just like creating labels for single address shipments. Select the order(s), configure the shipment(s), and create the label(s). However, it may be helpful to know how BigCommerce handles the order's status as labels are created in Postsale.
Let's use the same example with orders 111-1 and 111-2 in Postsale. Notice that the Online Status is Awaiting Fulfillment before any labels are created. This is the current status of the order in BigCommerce.

Notice that if we ship only one of the two orders in Postsale, the Online Status for both orders gets updated to Partially Shipped. This is because only one of the two items on Order 111 in BigCommerce has been shipped, so the order status is set as Partially Shipped.

You can still easily keep track of which of the multiple address orders in Postsale have been shipped using Postsale's Status column.

Once labels have been created for all of the multiple address orders in Postsale, the order will be marked as Shipped in BigCommerce and will be reflected in the Online Status column for all orders in Postsale.

Create a Filter to Quickly Locate Multiple Address Orders
Let's create a filter in Postsale to help you quickly locate all of multiple address orders that have not yet had labels created for them. Once the filter is created, you can simply select it to view the unshipped multiple address orders. Learn more about creating filters here.
To create the filter, we will first use Postsale's advanced search to locate orders that:
- Are associated with your BigCommerce store
- Have an Online Status of either Awaiting Fulfillment or Partially Shipped
- Have a local Status of Ready to Ship
- Select the All Order filter.

- Click the Advanced Search button in the search bar at the top of Postsale.

The Advanced Search will open. Now, let's tell Postsale to look only at orders asociated with your BigCommerce store.
- Type Store into the Field box. Then, select Store from the list of returned results.

- Leave the Operator as Equals. Then, select your BigCommerce store from the Store drop-down menu.

- Click the Add button to add this condition to your search. The condition will show in the Search pop-up.

Next, we'll identify orders with a dash in the order number.
- Select Order Number from the Field drop-down menu. (It is the first option in the list.)

- Select Includes from the Operator drop-down menu.

- Type a dash ( - ) into the Value field as shown in the image below.

- Click Add to add the condition to your search.

Now, let's find orders with an Online Status of either Awaiting Fulfillment or Partially Shipped.
- Type Order Online Status into the Field box. Then, select Order Online Status from the list of results.

- Select In from the Operator drop-down menu.

- Type Awaiting Fulfillment, Partially Shipped into the Value field.

- Click Add to add the condition to your search.

The last thing is to specify we only want orders with a Postsale Status of Ready to Ship.
- Type Order Status into the Field box. Then, select Order Status from the list of results.

- Leave the Operator as Equals. Then, type Ready to Ship into the Value field.

- Click Add to add the condition to your search.

Now, let's save the Advanced Search as a Filter so that you can select the filter at any time to quickly locate your multiple address orders.
- Click Save As.

- (Optional) Click the magnifying glass icon and select an icon for this Filter.
The icon will be displayed next to the Filter in the Orders Menu.
- Enter a Name for your filter.

- Click Save.
Your filter is now available in the list of filters. Simply select it any time you wish to view your unshipped multiple address orders.

Single Address Orders Changed to Multiple Address
In the rare instance that a single address order that has already been imported into Postsale is changed to a multiple address order (or vise versa) in BigCommerce, it may be helpful to know how the order is handled in Postsale.
Single Address Order is Changed to Multiple Address
When a single address order that has already been imported into Postsale is changed to a multiple address order in BigCommerce:
- Postsale archives the original order. The archived order is no longer available to work with in the main Orders Grid.
- New orders are imported from BigCommerce into Postsale, one order for each destination address associated with the order in BigCommerce. See the Identify Multiple Address Orders in Postsale section above for more information.
Multiple Address Order is Changed to Single Address
When a multiple address order that has already been imported into Postsale is changed to a single address order in BigCommerce:
- Postsale archives the original, multiple address orders. The archived orders are no longer available to work with in the main Orders Grid. See the Identify Multiple Address Orders in Postsale section above for more information about multiple address orders.
- A new, single order is imported into Postsale.
